DAY 1 ARRIVE AUSTRALIA

Arrive into Sydney this morning and transfer to your hotel. This hotel is located in the most historic section of Sydney, perched across from Sydney's beautiful harbor with a roof-top swimming pool overlooking the famous Opera House.

Settle into your hotel room, enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the nearby cafes or pubs.

Sydney is a thriving harbourside metropolis populated by four million people and is Australia's best known city. It was the first site of European settlement on the Australian continent - one vastly different from today's cosmopolitan showcase. The city's most famous landmark's include Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House and the Centrepoint Tower. With the harbour as the Sydney's heart, the city proper is bounded by water to the north and west and fringed to the east by the extensive green parklands of the Botanical Gardens and the Domain. Sydney is an exciting and interesting city to experience.

This afternoon, you have a tour of the city to acquaint yourself with the city layout, history and sights.  

DAY 2 SYDNEY, Explore the city (CB)

Sydney is a city to be savored. People watch - share an ale in a pub with the locals, lunch beside Darling Harbour, visit the Botanical Gardens...

Enjoy the day at your leisure with your Explorer Pass. Your pass allows you to travel on the red Sydney Explorer bus along the circuitous route, getting on and off where and when you please at any of the 24 stops en route (a list of these stops will be included with the documents you receive in Sydney). Your Sydney Explorer Pass also allows you to free travel on the regular Sydney Buses up to midnight. A handy guide book comes with your pass.

Tonight, venture out amongst the myriad of cafes, pubs and fine restaurants of Sydney - perhaps dining atop the city at Centrepoint Tower, or along its shore at Circular Quay.  

DAY 3 SYDNEY, Blue Mountains (L)

A small group excursion travelling in luxury air-conditioned vehicle with a stop for country-style morning tea, and a Barbecue lunch with fresh salads, cheese platter, selected Australian wines and refreshments. A day of gourmet food and scenery!

You are picked up at the hotel this morning after breakast.

This fantastic Ecotour begins at your hotel and the historical Rocks area of old Sydney. Heading westwards across the coastal plain we make our way to the Great Dividing Range of Australia. It is here we leave the 'average' Blue Mountains tourist behind and enter the National Park to unlock a piece of Australia you would never have known existed.

We visit ancient Aboriginal sites and outstanding lookouts, examine rock formations and the unusual plants and wildlife that abound the area. From the quaint little village of Leura we skirt around Cliff Drive to Katoomba where you will find yourself looking out over the magnificent Jamieson Valley and the Three Sisters.

We enjoy a delicious barbecue lunch including a selection of fine Australian wines and cheeses under the canopy of the Australian bush. Before returning to Sydney we drop into a hidden valley where we roam the area, seeking out the many kangaroos that graze in the wild (conditions permitting). Reluctantly we leave the National Park passing by the Olympic 2000 site, arriving at your hotel around 5.30pm.

DAY 4 SYDNEY/SUB TROPICAL RAINFOREST (L/D)

You are transferred to the airport for your morning flight to the Gold Coast in Southern Queensland and transfer up into a beautiful subtropical rainforest for a romantic cottage stay.

Set in a subtropical rainforest on mist-covered mountains, the lodge is its very own garden, alive with the wonders of rare and beautiful sub-tropical flora, friendly and inquisitive birds and animals. More than 160km of walking tracks are yours to walk beside gurgling streams to cascades and waterfalls, through wind-roded caves in volcanic ash cliffs, down into fern-filled gullies or up to high lookouts with breathtaking views.

Your comfortable cottage is set within the forest, and from morning tea or coffee on your verandah with the birds to evening around a fire with fellow guests after an active day - this will be a special time with nature at her best.

DAY 5 SUB TROPICAL RAINFOREST (B/L/D)

DAY 6 TO GREAT BARRIER REEF (B/D)

You are transferred to the airport for your short flight north and then out to a Great Barrier Reef Island.

Staying atop the Great Barrier Reef, you can snorkel, dive and explore this wonderful underwater world. There are two small pools, a tennis court and marine biologists to walk the reef at low tide with and learn more about the unique marine life of the Great Barrier Reef. There is a bar and restaurant, and evening activities. From October to February/March, the Giant Sea Turtles come ashore to lay their eggs and can be easily viewed. The island is a bird sanctuary and noisy at times with its interesting sea bird residents. All meals and reef walks are included in your tariff.

And the reef looks back at your each morning on waking up!

DAY 7 GREAT BARRIER REEF (B/L/D)

DAY 9 TO SYDNEY (B)

You are transferred to the airport for your flight to the mainland and then south to Sydney for your final night in Australia.

Tonight, dine aboard a dinner cruise on Sydney Harbour as the sun sets over this magnificent city. Cruise past the Opera House as you sip fine Australian wine.

DAY 10 SYDNEY / home

Your final day in Sydney, enjoy a leisure breakfast before checking out of the hotel and being transferred to the airport for your flight home, arriving this same day on home ground.
